Your business should always be personal sounds like a bold statement, but really if you own a home based business, or you receive mail at your home in regards to your business, and you decide to move and you put in a family forwarding order for Matthew, and Jennifer Jones, but you forget to include your business Jones Consulting Inc., then when mail comes in your business name, and logistics personnel don’t know where you moved then more than likely your mail will be returned to the sender, along with packages that you might order in your business name. Normally your business mail will be held for a period of 10 days, and after 10 days have passed, then your Letter Carrier can, and more than likely will return all of your mail to the sender. Business owners really don’t think about this sometimes, until they start missing out on payment invoices from vendors, and then they realize that their business mail is going to their old address, and then they wonder why they haven’t received a payment from a merchant in over 90 days. So remember if you decide to move, or relocate, it’s your responsibility to also put in a change of address for your business. If you’re having construction done on your home, and the project is going to be for a 6 month period, and you put in a temporary forwarding order, and the 6 month time frame comes, and the project is still unfinished, you have to put in another temporary forwarding order to continue receiving your mail. As a registered member of www.iwantmymail.com you can update your account anywhere in the world 24/7/365. Remember to print legibly on your forwarding order for your mail, because if one letter is spelled incorrectly your mail could be returned to the sender. As we all know the time change has take effect, and the importance of light for delivery drivers, and personnel is more important now than it ever was before. This is the time of year that mail delivery as well as package delivery picks up with the Christmas holiday becoming increasingly closer, and the explosion of online shopping continues to grow. People are no longer going to the shopping mall to make purchases, they’re ordering items in their pajamas at home, from their smartphones in a different city than where they live, in a different country, and etc. Leaving on a porch light can really make a difference, and can help to prevent a misdelivery, as well as prevent an injury to a Postal Carrier, UPS driver, FedEx driver, DHL driver, Amazon driver, or any other logistics driver who delivers packages, or items to your house that you have ordered, a light on can also deter a burglar because they hate being seen in the light. Having a light on can also help the logistics personnel to be seen for their safety purposes, as well miss stepping in a hole in your yard that could cause an injury if they can’t see where they’re walking to at night. Having a Christmas reef on your door at an apartment complex could also prevent delivery challenges if the hallway is dark, and there is no light so this can also help to prevent misdelivery if your number can be seen clearly, if it’s covered up by a Christmas decoration, and there are 50 other doors that look the same, then this could also cause a problem with an item being delivered to the wrong address. If you don’t have your address on the curve so that the driver can see it, this can also cause a delivery issue, but having your light on can really help the logistics personnel see where they’re going during this time of the season, so please leave your light on if possible, let there be light! www.iwantmymail.com

A camera could be your best friend at your home. This might seem like a bold statement, but a camera doesn’t lie to what happens when you’re away from home, and even if you’re at home. With this being the holiday season, and with all of the shopping that is done online, package theft right now is going to increase, and having a camera installed at your house can aid the police in making an arrest to a suspect walking up to your house, and stealing your package that your hard earned money bought, and paid for. There are several companies out there that offer the service to monitor your home, and one that has recently became really popular is Ring.com they have the service where you can monitor your surroundings around your home, and you also have an intercom system that you can speak to, and see who is on your porch, another cool feature is you can even monitor your house from work, and speak into the intercom system to whomever might be on your porch as well, this will definitely help to deter a package pirate from attempting to steal your package, because if they hear your voice then they figure that you must be in the house, and more than likely they will leave your house because they don’t want the trouble of getting caught. If you don’t know your neighbor get to know them, they could be just as good as having a camera at your home especially if you travel for a living. If you order something online, and you know that your going to be gone for an extended period of time let them know so that you can tell them to pick up your package from your home, because if a thief sees the exact same package on your porch for a couple of days then they will sense that you’re out of town, and they’ll feel more comfortable to walk on your porch as if they know you to try to steal your package. Happy holidays, and safe shopping! www.iwantmymail.com

The trailing car could be a sign to lookout for during the holiday season. One might ask the question what do you mean by the trailing car during the holiday season? The trailing car follows the UPS driver, FedEx driver, Amazon driver, DHL driver, USPS personnel, or any other logistics provider that delivers packages to residential homes, apartments, condos, townhomes, and etc., where items can be left when individuals, or families aren’t at home, and the item doesn’t require a signature. If you see a vehicle trailing these vehicles, it will be a good idea for people in the neighborhoods to watch for theft, because normally people will look around to see if anyone is watching, and the will go up to the house, and ring the doorbell to see if anyone will answer the door, and normally if there is no answer, they will grab the package, and walk back to their vehicle, as if they live at the residence, normally no one will say anything because they figure that this person is a relative of the resident, but during this time of the year, this is a huge problem, and with Uber drivers being able to deliver parcels for Amazon this can only add to the confusion. One of the best things to have at your home during this time of the year is a camera mounted on your house to aid in potentially catching an individual trying to steal your Christmas presents, or birthday gifts, and etc. One would recommend calling your security company to have a camera mounted so that you can monitor your home while you’re away, or if you’re going to be gone for an extended period of time, tell your neighbor to pick up your item, and hold it for you until you arrive. Please be safe, and alert during the holiday season! Happy Holidays to all! www.iwantmymail.com

The holiday season is when we reach out to friends, and family! This is often when we open up our address book to find an address to send a Thanksgiving card, or we prepare to send out an early Christmas card. Some of the people whom you might be writing, or sending a Thanksgiving, or Christmas card to you haven’t spoken to them in over 5-10 years, and during this span of time, your Cousin, or friend has moved over 3-5 times, some even more. To save yourself the time, and hassle it’s important to put a return of address on the card, because if you don’t the card will never be returned to you, if it’s a package the same applies, put a return address on the box, just in case the item is returned to the sender. The key thing to remember is an item with no return address can possibly be returned to you, so if it’s something valuable such as a check, or a family photo that might have sentimental value it’s very important to always have a return address on the item. If you haven’t heard from a friend, or a relative in a while try sending an e-mail to see if you can get a response, and if you get a response ask about their address, and if they have moved, all of these solutions can be accomplished on this website if you have an account, it’s free, and you never know who might be attempting to send you a card, or something in the mail, this website is secure, and after moving a change of address with the Postal Service is only good for one year, you can update, and change your information 24/7/365 on this website, so you have the power to make changes in real time, versus waiting two weeks to find out that you made a mistake that could delay your mail for another two week time period. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Your last name truly identifies who you are! This statement is more important than you think that it might mean because it’s the only way that you will be able to receive your mail in the event that you move, no matter how often, no matter where you might decide to move in the world. Being a service member in the Armed Forces is how you are identified, by your last name, so if your name is Matt Jones, and you’re a Marine Corps General, you’re referred to on your name tag, and your uniform with your last name, Jones, and the four stars will identify you as General Jones. If General Jones moves from the Pentagon to take over as the Commander of U.S. Forces Europe, then he must fill out a change of address, and his last name will be the key to him receiving his mail, so if he is going by himself, he will fill out an individual order only, but if his spouse is going with him then he must fill out an entire family order so that all of his mail, along with his family members mail will be forwarded as well. People often mail items to relatives, and friends, and they sometimes only put the first name of the individual, and this will work if the address is correct, but if the address is wrong, you will take a chance on the item being returned to you, and the main factor in this regard will be if you put your name, and address on the letter, or package, etc. Sometimes first names are also last names for family members, and someone across the street can share your last name as a first name for example Benjamin Tyson could live at 5838 Williams Way, and across the street is Tyson Wilson, who lives at 5839 Williams Way, so if you order a package from Amazon.com with just Tyson on it, and 5800 Williams Way, which doesn’t go to either resident, then you take a chance on your USPS personnel, or logistics personnel trying to attempt the item possibly at the wrong address. Your last name truly identifies who you are, here’s to a great week!

How far will companies go to deliver your packages? Some want you to pay for a subscription service to place a box at your residence to keep the porch pirates from stealing your packages, which is good in a sense, but the misdelivery of packages is a reality. If the barcode is scanned to give access to place the package, and it’s the wrong package at the wrong house, and the customer is waiting for the arrival of the package, and where the item was left is the wrong address then their is a huge problem if the customer where the item was left is out of town for a period of two weeks on business. Can the company go back to the house to retrieve the package? If the customer has a video camera that they can remotely access no matter where they are in the world, will they report this as theft, because they don’t know if the package was misdelivered, unless an email is sent telling them that the item was misdelivered, and it doesn’t belong at their address, so do the zoom in on the package so the customer will feel at ease knowing that this is something that doesn’t belong at their address?

There’s another service where the company will have access to enter your home to leave a package inside of your house. The fee is $250 for the service, but how many people are going to allow someone to enter their home when they’re not at home? If this happens then one would suggest having a security camera inside of your home to document the activities of the delivery driver dropping off your package.

The easiest solution would be for customers to have their packages delivered to their job, the reason, it’s safe, secure, and normally you will get it early, and during business hours, if your job doesn’t have a problem with you receiving items at your place of business. Of course privacy could also play a factor if your ordering something that you might consider to be to personal then, one would suggest having the item sent to your private residence.

Moving to Mars, in 2024, can I receive my mail once I move? That’s a very good question, the jury is still out on that one! The plan that Space X has is for Mars to be colonized with about 80,000 citizens, and I’m sure that mail is going to be a very big topic once, and if people actually start to colonize Mars. What will be the currency? Will it be bitcoin, or any of the other electronic currency that are now hot commodities to own right now, or will a currency be developed on Mars? I guess that we’ll have to wait, and see, but I’m sure that someone is working on plans as we speak, on how planet Mars will be established, and ran. Will there be a Post Office in Mars, and how will the new residents get their mail? In my opinion Blue Origin, which is owned by Jeff Bezos will be delivering Amazon products, and bringing mail to the new occupants of planet Mars in the future if his company can successfully travel to, and land on Mars on a consistent basis. The list of products that people will order will be enormous, but then the question is asked, how will they make money to purchase these items, unless everyone on planet Mars is wealthy, but then how will work get accomplished as far as hard labor jobs if everyone is wealthy? I’m sure that brilliant minds are working on these solutions, but in the event that you decide to make the move to Mars, you can use the special instructions tab on www.iwantmymail.com to inform your family, and friends that you have decided to leave planet Earth, and in the event that you need to make changes, and you have a change of heart, and you want to return to Earth, you can update your information no matter where you might be in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. Earth to Mars, we’re here for you at www.iwantmymail.com

My mailbox is on the ground will I receive my mail? This is often a question that a customer might want to ask their Postal carrier. The answer really is at the discretion of your Postal Carrier because technically if a box is on the ground the Postal carrier doesn’t have to leave mail for your house, or if your mailbox is on the curb, and your mailbox is lying on the ground they don’t have to leave mail at your residence, because it’s unsecure, and unsafe, and to prevent theft of your mail, normally they will take the mail back to the station, and will hold it for you until you get your mailbox fixed, unless you verbally talk to them, and make progress to get the problem fixed.

In apartments having a unlocked box can also lead to you not receiving mail, because it’s unsecure, and you could have sensitive information such a credit card that could be stolen, and your identity could be compromised, also not having your name in your mailbox could make your Postal carrier assume that your residence is vacant. If someone is living with you, and you have different last names it’s important to have their name in the mailbox as well, as well your apartment number, because sometimes numbers don’t match in boxes, or go in order, so having your name, and apartment number can save you the hassle of not receiving your mail, as well as getting your correct mail in your mailbox.

If you live in a apartment complex where all of the boxes have been damaged, or broken into, it’s your apartment complexes responsibility to fix the boxes if they’re privately owned, so if there’s a problem with unsecure boxes, it’s recommended that the tenants should call the corporate office to fix the issue. Here’s to a great week!

Past and present residents, the holiday season is upon us, and during this time people are beginning to shop more, and prepare for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and also sending out greeting cards around the world to family, and friends. There’s one problem, people don’t keep in touch the way that the used to, by picking up the phone to call, or simply writing a letter to a loved one, or a friend. We’re often disappointed when we send a gift, and we wait for a response from our friend, and then two weeks later we receive the return to the sender box, that we went out of our way to mail, to our cousin in Portland, Oregon, Matt Jones, who moved to California to start grad school over 14 months ago. Had both of you had been a member of www.iwantmymail.com you could have found out that Matt had moved, and you could have saved yourself shipping fees if you would have verified if your friend had moved. This applies to anyone especially anyone living in apartments because there’s such a high turnover ratio, so keeping your information up to date is very imperative, because you never know who might be searching for you, and even applying for a job, and getting the interview is also very crucial, because what if the future employer issued a letter of acceptance for the job that you applied for, and you decided to move without submitting a change of address, and after two weeks, your letter is returned to the sender, and you miss the job opportunity of your dreams. Tips for the holidays, mailing envelopes with color can attract letter thieves, because they think that all birthday cards that are labeled have money in them. Never send money, because if you do, and it’s stolen it’s hard to support your case. Here’s to a great week!
